This policy explains what information QtyHome (“we”, “us”) collects when you use qtyhome.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain on purpose.
1. The short version
- You can use every calculator without an account. The numbers you type into a calculator stay in your browser and are not sent to us.
- If you contact us, we receive your name, email address and message so we can reply.
- Our host keeps standard server logs for security.
- We may show ads from Google, which can use cookies. You can control this.
2. Information we collect
Calculator inputs
Calculations run in your browser. We do not store or receive the measurements you enter.
Contact form
When you send a message, we receive your name, email address, chosen topic and message by email. We use them only to reply to you and to fix any error you report. We keep messages for as long as needed to handle your request, and delete them when they are no longer needed. To block spam, the form keeps a short-lived counter linked to a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address. It is deleted automatically after one hour.
Server logs
Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records technical data such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. This is used for security and to keep the site running, and is kept for a limited period.
3. Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. QtyHome uses:
- Essential cookies: to remember your cookie consent choice, and to keep site administrators logged in. Visitors do not need to log in.
- Advertising cookies (if ads are shown): set by Google and its partners, as described below. Where the law requires it, these are only used after you give consent through our cookie banner.
You can change your cookie choice at any time through the cookie settings on our site, and you can delete or block cookies in your browser settings.
4. Advertising (Google AdSense)
QtyHome may use Google AdSense to show ads. When ads are shown:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info, or www.youronlinechoices.eu if you are in the UK or Europe.
- Learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
If we add other ad networks or analytics tools, we will list them on this page before they go live.
5. Why we use your information (legal bases)
For visitors in the UK and the European Economic Area: we reply to messages because you asked us to (legitimate interests and steps you request), we keep server logs to protect the site (legitimate interests), and we use advertising cookies only with your consent where consent is required.
6. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help run the site, such as our hosting provider and email services, and with advertising partners as described above. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, to object to or limit how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. California residents may also have the right to know what personal information is collected and to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing” for targeted advertising. Visitors in Canada have similar rights under Canadian privacy law. To make a request, contact us. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
8. Children
QtyHome is meant for adults planning home projects. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
9. Security
The site uses HTTPS encryption and is kept up to date. No method of sending data over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we receive.
10. Changes to this policy
We will update this page if our practices change, and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be noted on the site.
